The squid.exe file is an executable component process integrated with the system drivers, modular DLL resources and other program files that are used and referenced by the Squid Web Proxy Cache software, which is a Windows application classified as an Internet proxy tool designed to speed up load times of websites and regularly visited Web pages. The squid.exe process is included in the client installer distribution packages of the Squid Web Proxy Cache program, which also means the squid.exe process is integrated into the system upon the installation of the Squid Web Proxy Cache client tool. The squid.exe process is also specifically deployed as the executable program dispatcher file of the Squid Web Proxy Cache client program, which means the Squid Web Proxy Cache software can be activated and loaded unto the system by executing the squid.exe process. The squid.exe process and the Squid Web Proxy Cache software are embedded with compatibility support for Microsoft Windows NT/2000.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. squid.exe. is used by Squid Web Proxy Cache, If you shut down squid.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop squid.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Squid Web Proxy Cache, from your system.
