The sp_swins.exe file is a non-system process that is a component of the sp_swins module of Smartpipes, Inc. It is a regular process used by Smartpipes in its secure software platform for creating and managing advanced Internet Protocol services. A user needs to invoke the process in order for the system to launch and run the program associated with it. Sp_swins.exe is not a core file required to run Windows; however, it is one of the files that came during the installation of the system. While it is not considered critical as an executable file, it may nonetheless be used by other .dll files. It may also be a necessary component of certain programs, which, without this program, may not run smoothly. Sp_swins.exe, because it is identified with a legitimate operation, is not a threat to a computer and a user need not be concerned if this file is found in his hard drive.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. sp_swins.exe. is used by Smartpipes module, If you shut down sp_swins.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop sp_swins.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Smartpipes module, from your system.
