The file scanner.exe is the process that executes ScanSpyware, an anti-spyware and anti-adware program created by ScanSpyware. It mainly functions to remove spyware and adware as well as other malicious program that damage the computer or invade the privacy of the user. This application has the ability to scan and clean all malicious threats. It also helps block the pop-ups of advertisements from websites and speeds up the computer system. The “Get Update” option is a reliable feature because it downloads the most current pest signatures. As most users expect, this process automatically updates the database of spyware, adware and other malicious applications or programs. While it can automatically clean and remove spyware, the user can manually scan the computer or specific folders and drives using its interface. The user is able to choose a quick or complete scan. This file is mostly used in Windows operating systems which include Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. scanner.exe. is used by ScanSpyware, If you shut down scanner.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
