What is rthdcpl.exe
Realtek HD Audio Sound Effect Manager is the name of the program where a process called Realtek HD Audio Control Panel is executed through the file rthdcpl.exe. The file starts upon system boot-up, through the following Windows registry key: HKLM\SFOTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. The file is installed when you have a Realtek audio card installed. Users are given options to configure the sound effects of their audio hardware Realtek HD Audio Control Panel. Disabling the file may cause your audio hardware to stop functioning, or to function with very limited capabilities. The file is saved in Windows directory, C:\Windows\rthdcpl.exe. It has a known file size of 16.09 MB. This specific file, rthdcpl.exe, is compatible with Windows XP. There have been reports that the file was somehow relocated to another address, C:\Windows\System 32\hhctrl.ocx. Generally, users who encountered this problem used a Microsoft hotfix to correct the problem. Users determined that the file was somehow bumped to the address of an illegal file as a result of a Windows update.
