The rmctrl.exe file is an executable component file included with the program files, modular DLLs and system drivers that are needed by the Cyberlink PowerDVD software, which is a program for Windows-based systems, and this software is classified as a multimedia authoring and playback tool with a set of integrated features for creating data disks, audio disks and video disks using CD, DVD and Blue-Ray optical media. The rmctrl.exe file is included in the installer distribution packages of version 4 and above of the Cyberlink PowerDVD software. This also means the rmctrl.exe process is installed in the system upon the installation of the Cyberlink PowerDVD program. The rmctrl.exe process is normally stored in the System32 sub directory under the Windows directory of the system partition. The rmctrl.exe process is specifically deployed as a component of a Cyberlink PowerDVD system driver module that allows users to connect a remote control device using the infrared port of the computer.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. rmctrl.exe. is used by Cyberlink PowerDVD Remote Control Driver Module, If you shut down rmctrl.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop rmctrl.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Cyberlink PowerDVD Remote Control Driver Module, from your system.
