The rdtask.exe file is known as RDTask Microsoft, which belongs to Virtual Drive or Virtual Drive Pro or Virtual Drive Utility software designed by FarStone Technology. It is located in the “C:\Program Files” directory bearing no visible window when operating in the background. This process automatically starts upon the start-up of Windows. It is not considered to be a Windows core file. Its main function is storage of CD, games, and music programs by simulating the PC’s hard disk. This will allow the process to be a part and parcel of the system memory on the computer. It provides higher performance in the users’ system once a music library is being archived, certain program files in RAM are accessed, or during copying of CD or DVDS. Therefore, this is considered to be a trusted and legitimate file software.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. rdtask.exe. is used by Virtual Drive Utility, Virtual Drive Pro, If you shut down rdtask.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop rdtask.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Virtual Drive Utility, Virtual Drive Pro, from your system.
