The file privoxy.exe is a process file for the application Privoxy from the Privoxy team, and is an associated project of the group Software for Public Interest (SPI). Privoxy is a non-caching web proxy with advanced filtering capability for enhancing web page data and HTT headers, enhancing privacy, controlling access, and removing ads and other unwanted adware from the Internet. It is free software and is licensed under the GNU GPL v2. The main objective of this application is cookie management and ad blocking. It supports "Connection keep-alive" that aims to keep outgoing connection alive independently from the client, tagging that allows changes in the behavior based on client and server headings, IPv6 and Perl compatible regular expressions in the configuration files. Supplemental features that aim to give end-users more control and privacy in the Internet include auto detection and re-reading of configuration files, GIF de-animation, sophisticated actions and filters for manipulating both server and client headers, and the bypass of many click-tracking scripts.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. privoxy.exe. is used by Privoxy , If you shut down privoxy.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop privoxy.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Privoxy , from your system.
