The Toshiba Software Upgrades, also known as the pinger.exe process, is an application that is included in all Toshiba notebooks and laptops available currently. This EXE file is installed under the MS Windows operating systems and it comes with other file drivers. This application detects all hardware within the Toshiba notebook or laptop model and gathers information from it. It connects automatically to the Toshiba server whenever there is Internet connection and actively finds for any new software upgrades. The pinger.exe process does not require any input from the user neither does this have a visible window. One inconvenient thing regarding this EXE file though is its tendency to freeze or hang during execution. However, this can be avoided by removing the pinger.exe file from the startup group. This can be done by deleting it from its folder or by using MSCONFIG. A friendly note though, that if the user decides to delete the file from its location, he needs to take out known startup values from registry.
