The process phtray.exe is known as Proxy: Tray Icon, which belongs to software Proxy Host or ON Command Remote Host by Funk Software. The ON Command Remote Host software allows a computer that is called the remote host to accept connections from a master computer (ON Command Remote Master) that control all PCs connected to the network. By accepting the connection, the display of the remote host becomes visible to the Master and its user who controls the remote host interface. This application is a peer-to-peer (P2P) connection where the Remote Master that controls all interfaces with remote host controls all PCs connected to the network. A remote host can connect to the Master as long as they use the same protocol (IP or IPX) over the connection. Execution of the process phtray.exe enables the peer-to-peer connection of the remote host with the Master. A feature called the ON Command Remote Host control panel enables the remote user or host to configure the connection to the Master. In such case, the network administrator configures the settings on behalf of the PC user.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. phtray.exe. is used by On Command Remote Host, If you shut down phtray.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop phtray.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is On Command Remote Host, from your system.
