What is  pg_ctl.exe

The pg_ctl.exe file is a part of the software PostgreSQL as developed by PostgreSQL Global Development Group. PostgreSQL or Postgres is an obeject-relational database management system. It is available for Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X, among others. The pg_ctl.exe file is installed in the computer with the software PostgreSQL. Upon startup, the EXE file enables the functionalities of the software to be utilized by the computer user. Postgres implements majority of the SQL:2008 standard. It is ACID-compliant and fully transactional which includes all those involving DDL statements. The software also provides the user with extensive data types, operators, index methods, functions, aggregates, procedural languages and several extensions written by other users. The pg_ctl.exe file allows the user to utilize all features of this software and to apply it to his or her computer activities. Disabling the EXE file will disrupt the smooth operation of the software Postgres.
