The navshext.dll file is a modular program component of the Norton AntiVirus program, which is an application that is classified as a system security tool with a set of integrated features for monitoring and protecting Windows-based systems against data security and system stability threats like spyware programs, Trojans, worms, viruses and other malicious applications. Also known as the Norton AntiVirus NAV Shell Ext module, the navshext.dll file is referenced by the Norton AntiVirus program during application startup and runtime, in order to load the Norton AntiVirus NAV Shell Ext module unto the Norton AntiVirus software and implement its integrated features into the system. The navshext.dll module is specifically deployed as the main modular component of the Norton AntiVirus NAV Shell Ext module.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. navshext.dll. is used by Norton AntiVirus and Norton AntiVirus NAV Shell Ext Module, If you shut down navshext.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop navshext.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Norton AntiVirus and Norton AntiVirus NAV Shell Ext Module, from your system.
