The mpfservice.exe process is included in the required program files and modules of the McAfee Personal Firewall software as one of its executable component files. The mpfservice.exe process is also packaged with the other required components of the McAfee Personal Firewall Plus application. Both these tools are classified as system security applications that are integrated with a set of functionalities for protecting the system against malicious programs and hacker attacks. The mpfservice.exe process is normally found in the same application folder where the McAfee Personal Firewall software or the McAfee Personal Firewall Plus program was installed, which is usually a sub directory of the Program Files directory that was created and labeled with the name of the software during application installation, and the Program Files directory is stored in the system partition.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mpfservice.exe. is used by McAfee Personal Firewall and McAfee Personal Firewall Plus, If you shut down mpfservice.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mpfservice.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is McAfee Personal Firewall and McAfee Personal Firewall Plus, from your system.
