The mEncoder.exe process is the executable file for MEncoder, a command-line video encoding, decoding, and filtering tool licensed by the GNU General Public License. MEncoder is the sibling of MPlayer as it can convert the formats that the MPlayer understands in compressed and uncompressed codecs. Built with the same code with MPlayer, MEncoder can read every source MPlayer can read and decode, and supports the filters that MPlayer can use. If the audio system cannot process files in realtime, the audio file can be disabled by using any -nosound to allow smooth review on the video filtering. The audio and/or video copying should be done unmodified to avoid data or quality loss as a result of the re-encoding. For instance, modifying the audio or the video alone, or move the audio/video data unmodified to a different container. And since the same code as MPlayer is used, it will feature the same number of configurable audio and video filters in transforming the stream.
