The mdn.exe file is an executable process that has been reported by many users to possibly be integrated with malicious functionalities, and these user reports claimed that the mdn.exe process is a variant of the Mal_Banker program. A few users reported that the mdn.exe process is capable, upon its activation during system startup, of searching for backdoor system vulnerabilities that it can then exploit to initiate contact with predesignated servers on the Internet. These same reports claimed that the mdn.exe process is implemented with functionalities for gathering Internet browsing data from the default Web browser of the system and for also accessing other pieces of information stored in the infected system, in order to transmit the collected data to those Web servers. Upon exploiting the backdoor system vulnerabilities it has found, many users reported that the mdn.exe process can also download other malicious programs unto the system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mdn.exe. is used by Mal_Banker, If you shut down mdn.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mdn.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Mal_Banker, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.
