The application manifestengine.exe, also named LogitechSoftwareUpdate is software that provides system updates for Logitech QuickCam cameras. It is not an essential application for the operating system so an automatic startup is not necessary. The basic function of this application is to upload an image of the user, or any image desired by the user, into the computer. It can provide real time images or upload images from the user's files. The application can be manually launched when a process update for the Logitech QuickCam camera is desired. This application enables the webcam to view video clips, pictures, and internet sites that are accessed by the user by means of a browser, and download these images to the computer disk or to a removable storage device. Other features include video chat, uploading and transfer of files, including sharing with selected groups or friends.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. manifestengine.exe. is used by Logitech Software Update, If you shut down manifestengine.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop manifestengine.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Logitech Software Update, from your system.
