Logmon is the filename of the executable logmon.exe. The file does not seem to have one definite description, as per users’ own accounts of their experience regarding the file. Its most common association is with the Rescue and Recovery software installed in most IBM and Lenovo laptops. Common path of the file is C:\Program Files\IBM ThinkVantage\Common\Logger\logmon.exe. According to some users, the file seems to have a bug that hogs CPU usage. Users either fix the bug and keep the file, or simply disable the file. Users in general, disable the file because they have no use for the process that comes with the file. The file usually comes in two kilobyte sizes: 21.5 KB and 32 KB. The only main concern of users about the file, based on their reports, is its very high CPU usage. So far, they have not cited the file as a form of bot, spyware, malware or virus.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. logmon.exe. is used by Rescue and Recovery Service, If you shut down logmon.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop logmon.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Rescue and Recovery Service, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Rescue and Recovery Service, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
