What is links.exe
The links.exe file is an executable application process that has been reported by many users as a malicious program associated with the TrojanClicker:Win32/Linbukik.A software, which is a known family of Trojans and viruses. Other users claim that the links.exe process is associated with a malicious variant of the Trojan.Gen program, which is another family of Trojans. As a Trojan, the links.exe process is said to be capable of exploiting vulnerable TCP/IP network ports upon the successful placement and activation of the links.exe file in an unsecure or unprotected Windows-based system. These exploited TCP/IP network ports are then said to be used by the links.exe process to initiate contact with the remote servers of its authors, in order to download more malware items, gather private user data and Internet surfing information from the infected system and its default Web browser and upload these covertly collected details to the Web servers of its authors.
