The lcdmon.exe is a base driver for the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) monitor that has been integrated in the design of devices such as gaming consoles, audio speakers, and mobile phones from Logitech Inc. It is automatically launched when any Logitech device is connected to a computer. It triggers the brilliant display and sharper images on the LCD monitor, providing high quality resolution of up to 1024 x 768 pixels. The sharper and finer images produced are due to the smaller Dot pitch placement (distance between two adjacent pixels) that reduces the granularity of the display. The resolution is further enhanced by the shorter response time for changes in the pixel's color and brightness, and the faster refresh rate for the LCD monitor to process images that are being fed into it. The shorter response time (measured in black-to-black or gray-to-gray transitions in pixel color) and faster refresh rate enhance the visual display. This is particularly important when viewing video or movies filmed at 24 frames per second (24 FPS) to prevent image distortion that could result if the refresh rate by the monitor is slow. An essential component of lcdmon is the LCD Manager. The LCD Manager is responsible for controlling and configuring the LCD Display, and is responsible for setting display modes for the POP 3 monitor, performance monitor, countdown timer, and the clock display.
