The ktp.exe process is bundled with the firmware and driver software components of the ElanTech Touchpad device, which is a hardware tool that is commonly packaged with ASUS laptops and computers. This means the ktp.exe process is associated with the other program files and modules included in the firmware and driver software resources of supported ElanTech Touchpad devices, and the ktp.exe process is bundled with these firmware and driver software distributions. The ktp.exe process is initialized by some of these firmware and driver software components whenever the system or the user requests for access to some features integrated into the supported ElanTech Touchpad device, and upon execution, the ktp.exe process calls on other associated program files and modules in order to load those requested features unto the system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ktp.exe. is used by ElanTech Touchpad Driver Module, If you shut down ktp.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ktp.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is ElanTech Touchpad Driver Module, from your system.
