IreIke Service Application is the service name of the process ireike.exe, which is an executable or EXE file, and is a component of the program Microsoft L2TP/IPSec VPN Client, or SafeNet VPN Client, or SafeNet IKE Service, which is developed by Microsoft Corporation, or SafeNet. Microsoft L2TP/IPSec VPN Client is basically a network application that is only designed exclusively for certain Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, which are Windows 98, Windows ME, and Windows NT, and is used to make remote access virtual private network or VPN connections across Internet, and other public or shared networks. It is basically a kind of software, which is able to create safer connections to a public or private network, and certainly requires Internet connection to be able to carry out its specific function or functions. When the program is installed onto the computer, the file, which is ireike.exe, is also added on the system, registers itself into a Windows registry, and stores on a folder location, such as C:\Program Files, or C:\Documents and Settings.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ireike.exe. is used by Microsoft L2TP/IPSec VPN Client, If you shut down ireike.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ireike.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Microsoft L2TP/IPSec VPN Client, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Microsoft L2TP/IPSec VPN Client, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
