What is  ipssvc.exe

IPS Core Service, generally bundled with ThinkPad machines, is installed through executable file ipssvc.exe. This file could be from the software Away Manager, and it could also be from Maintenance Manager; both of which are from Lenovo. The file provides users with an application to create a Virtual Private Network when connecting to the Internet so that their IP addresses will be masked, thereby not rendering them vulnerable to online attacks in the form of identity thefts and other fraudulent activities online. This observation is based on users’ accounts. The file also appears to launch a process that allows users to run applications in whisper mode to save on system resources. The default folder of the file is C:\Program Files\System 32\ipssvc.exe. The file has a size of only about 72 kilobytes. The file runs as a Windows service, executed through services.exe. RAM size of the file is 2.02 MB. Average context switches per second is 68. CPU usage averages at 0.00035645%.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ipssvc.exe. is used by IPS Core Service, If you shut down ipssvc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ipssvc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is IPS Core Service, from your system.
