What is  internetexplorer.exe

The process called internetexplorer.exe is an instance of an executable or EXE file, which is primarily part of the program Microsoft Windows, particularly Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer or IE, which is developed by Microsoft Corporation. This file is considered legitimate as it is a process made by Microsoft for its own Windows, which means it is compatible with all versions of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, such as Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000, Windows NT, and Windows ME. Regardless of the Windows operating system or OS that is pre-installed onto the computer, internetexplorer.exe is able to run as a background service, and has to remain stored on a folder location (usually in C:\Program Files, C:\Documents and Settings, or C:\Windows), registers itself into a Windows registry, and start being functional.
