Zip drives are removable disk storage systems. They have introduced in the market by Iomega. The imgicon.exe is a process file that is installed in the computer system along with Iomega Zip Drives. The process file will provide a row of icons which match to the individual make and model of the zip drive. This allows easy identification of the drives. Imgicon.exe or imgicon is part of software Iomega Corporation IMGICON. The software also goes with the names of Iomega imgicon, mine imgicon, IomegaWare for Windows NT and Iomega Tools for Windows NT. Aside from providing individual icons to the zip drives, imgicon.exe is also responsible in ejecting any disk in the zip drive when the user shut down Microsoft Windows. If the user disables the EXE file, the icon for the Iomega drives will become generic looking and the user will have to manually eject the disks before shutting down the computer.
How can I stop imgicon.exe and should I?
Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. imgicon.exe. is used by Iomega Zip Drive, If you shut down imgicon.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop imgicon.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Iomega Zip Drive, from your system.
