Microsoft IME, or Microsoft IME Pad, is the service name of the process imepadsv.exe, which is an instance of an executable (EXE) file, and is a part of the software product branded as Microsoft IME (version 2002), or Microsoft IME Pad, which is developed by Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft IME, which stands for Microsoft Global Input Method Editor, is an application that is used to enable the entrance of characters and complex symbols, such as those from other languages, like Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Arabic, in the Windows computer. The imepadsv.exe file is not just a Windows process, but also a digitally signed module (Microsoft Corporation - VeriSign Time Stamping Service), which makes it more essential, or in other words, it has to remain running in the background, and must not be terminated, unless it is causing problems that affect the performance of the computer system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. imepadsv.exe. is used by Microsoft Global IME or Microsoft IME, If you shut down imepadsv.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop imepadsv.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Microsoft Global IME or Microsoft IME, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Microsoft Global IME or Microsoft IME, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application.
