The ico.exe process is recognized by Primax Electronics Ltd as the MouseSuite 98 Daemon application, a part of the Primax MouseSuite program (Primax being the ico.exe file’s parent program). The Primax MouseSuite is driver software that offers users a variety of enhanced features for their Primax mouse. This EXE file helps the Primax MouseSuite to communicate among other mice and pointing devices that are installed in the PC, usually called the Optical and Wireless Optical Mouse, which are also products that are owned by Primax. Though the ico.exe file belongs to Primax, the company does not exclusively use this EXE file as there were some instances where different manufacturers have used the file for other purposes. Sony is one company that have used the ico.exe file because it is pre-installed in VAIO laptops, which the Sony Company owns. This EXE file has the capability to manage and control features that are enhanced such as the scroll wheels of the pointing device products found in Primax Electronics.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ico.exe. is used by Primax MouseSuite, If you shut down ico.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ico.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Primax MouseSuite, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.
