The htv.exe is a Windows executable file from the software Ardamax Keylogger, which is a keystroke recorder software by Ardamax Software. A keystroke recorder is a program which monitors the usage of your computer by capturing keystrokes and other activities such as file opening, internet access and software installation, among others. The recorded activity is usually saved as an encrypted log file which can be forwarded to your email address. It is a great tool to monitor activities done through your computer when you are not around. The process is actively running when the keylogger is launched as it is a core executable file for the program to work. It is automatically placed into the system when the Ardamax Keylogger is installed in the computer. However, most antivirus software recognizes this process as a malware which registers as MonitoringTool:Win32/Ardamax in Microsoft Security Essentials, and as Spyware.Ardakey in Symantec. In this cases, note that htv.exe is associated with a keystroke recorder software.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. htv.exe. is used by Ardamax Keylogger, If you shut down htv.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop htv.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Ardamax Keylogger, from your system.
