What is gemserv.exe
The file gemserv.exe, known as PowerNow! Daemon Service Launcher, belongs to software AMD PowerNow from Advanced Micro Devices. PowerNow is power saving and speed throttling technology for processors from AMD that is installed in laptops. Traditionally, increase in processor performance often means increase in power consumption and shorter battery life for laptops. PowerNow is an innovative solution that addresses this concern by increasing notebook battery life while delivering performance on demand. It optimizes battery life, provides performance on demand and allows the processor to dissipate less heat under normal operating conditions, providing a quieter running and cooler notebook. PowerNow automatically decreases the CPU's clock speed and VCore when the computer is idle or when the load is low to save battery power and reduce heat and noise. It provides the added benefit of extending the lifetime of the CPU because of reduced electromigration that varies exponentially with temperature.
