The file expmon.exe is known as the GuardMailRu Module from MailRu, an email service from Runet, which is the largest email service in Russia. The module GuardMailRu is a process in the MailRu applications, which is the equivalent of HotMail, Yahoo, or GMail in English speaking countries. MaiRu is the largest email service in Russia that has also evolved into the Russian version of MaySpace or Facebook. MailRu includes instant messaging service, voice and video calls, ICQ protocol support, and an ability to create conferences and simultaneously support an unlimited number of accounts. It features a search functionality to find people to chat with, and the search parameters are categorized into age, sex, location, Zodiac sign, availability of webcam and other factors. The application features geo-tagging service that enables users to view on the map where their friends are. The geo-tagging application provides an alert if a specific friend or person shows up within a predetermined range or location.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. expmon.exe. is used by MailRu, If you shut down expmon.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop expmon.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is MailRu, from your system.
