The ereg.ini file is a process that belongs to certain Nuance or ScanSoft applications, and the ereg.ini file is also associated with the ereg.exe process. The ereg.ini file is bundled with the Nuance registration module, and this process is particularly implemented for the registration reminder feature of associated Nuance or ScanSoft products. The main functionalities that are performed by the ereg.ini file and the registration module of these Nuance or ScanSoft products include prompting the user to complete the online registration form for the licensed version of the Nuance or ScanSoft product, then for instructing the Web page to disable the registration reminder of the Nuance or ScanSoft software and complete the registration process after the user fills out the registration form and submits it.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ereg.ini. is used by Nuance or ScanSoft Registration Module, If you shut down ereg.ini, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ereg.ini, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Nuance or ScanSoft Registration Module, from your system.
