The file erasext.dll, known as Eraser Shell Extension, belongs to software Eraser from wYWZ. Eraser is a security tool for Windows that allows the user to delete sensitive data from the hard drive. The process involves overwriting the file several times with carefully selected patterns to ensure that the originally written information will not be retrieved. Simply deleting a file from the disk removes only the reference of the file from the file system table. it remains on the disk until a file is created over it. Overwriting does not completely remove all traces of the file and some data can still be recovered from the magnetic fields on the disk platter surface. Eraser has considered all of the factors that prevent complete removal of files from the disk and these factors have been taken into consideration in the program design. Eraser works with any drive that works with Windows, with secure drive erasure methods that are supported out of the box. It is free software and its source code is released under GNU General Public License.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. erasext.dll. is used by Eraser, If you shut down erasext.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop erasext.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Eraser, from your system.
