The file engutil.exe, known as Roxio Engine Compatibility, belongs to software Roxio Engine Compatibility Wizard by Roxio. The Engine Compatibility Wizard is the component of the Roxio Easy CD and DVD Creator and Easy Media Creator series of CD/DVD tools that corrects any modification made to the Roxio Engine. The Roxio PX engine device driver enables burning and and compatibility of optical media such as CDs and DVDs that is compatible with software Easy Media Creator 7.5 and higher, all versions of MyDVD,Backup MyPC, Simple Backup, DVDit, and RecordNow, VideoWave 8 and higher, and DVD for Photostory. It can be used with other software to rip, edit, and burn files onto CDs and DVDs. The Roxio PX Engine communicates between the Roxio software and the computer's optical disk drive, and should be regularly updated to continually run the latest versions of the software. The driver update ensures the highest compatibility with the latest drives and media.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. engutil.exe. is used by Roxio Engine Compatibility Wizard, If you shut down engutil.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop engutil.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Roxio Engine Compatibility Wizard, from your system.
