The file elmon.sys belongs to software Intel Quick Resume Technology from Intel. Quick Resume Technology is a feature that is found in the Intel Core 2 Processor with Viiv Technology, which is supported by the Quick Resume Technology Driver (QRTD). QRTD is only available on Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 Update Rollup 2, and is not supported by other Windows operating systems. This driver places the Intel Viiv technology-based PC in Quick Resume mode that allows turning the computer on and off in a few seconds like any normal VCR or DVD player. Intel Viiv technology is a platform developed by Intel that is a collection of computer technologies with a particular combination of features, which support a "Media PC" concept. Intel also provided the Media Server as the core software stack on the PC to support media distribution through the home. Some of the other features of the Viiv PC include support for up to 1080i high-definition television, integrated digital video recorder (DVR), an optional TV tuner, and optional Integrated Media Server (IMS) software designed to allow other portable devices in the same network.
