The file ehmonitor.exe, known as Media Center Monitor Service, belongs to software Microsoft Windows Operating System by Microsoft. The Windows Media Center is software that can make the computer a powerful home entertainment hub. Connecting the computer to the TV enables the user to enjoy the many features of the Windows Media Center with a remote control device. The Media Center can be used as an entertainment hub to watch, pause, and record live TV, watch photo slideshows or view pictures and videos. It can play any song in the music library or play CDs and DVDs. Media Center can stream live and pre-recorded television to extenders such as the XBox 360 console, and playback or record TV shows from standard antenna, cable, or satellite signals. Users can record television programs manually or schedule recordings from the electronic program guide. Media Center is included in various versions of Windows XP Media Center Edition, Windows Vista Home Premium and Ultimate, and all editions of Windows 7 except for Starter and Home Basic.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ehmonitor.exe. is used by Windows Media Center, If you shut down ehmonitor.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ehmonitor.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Windows Media Center, from your system.
