What is  dpagent.exe

The dpagent.exe process is also known as the DigitalPersonal Local Agent and is a component of the HP ProtectTools Security Manager Suite which is enables the installation of the HP ProtectTools Security Manager, the Fingerprint and Credential Manager and Drive Encryption. This program enables the user to login using a fingerprinte reader on some Dell laptops. The HP ProtectTools Security Manager is included in a wide variety of Business Notebooks and select Business Workstations and Desktops. It is created on Hewlett Packard intellectual property and it on open standards. This program can be configured so that unauthorized access with the use of TPM Embedded security chips, Smart Cards, USB tokens and the like are prevented. This program is said to be completely customizable which enables a lot of flexibility and versatility among its business costumers especially when choosing the level of security that each customer needs. It is up to the user whether or not he or she would like to run this program at start up and there is no harmful effect on the computer system whether this program is enabled or disabled.
