What is  dnscst.exe

The process simply known as DNSCST Module for Dell Laser Printers is executed through the file dnscst.exe. Based on users’ observations, the file comes installed with the driver for their Dell printer/scanner. Although there were no available information that could directly point out the specific use of the dnscst.exe file, clients with Dell printers connected to the PC find that the file installs a System Tray applet for their printer device, providing them with options for controlling the settings of their printer. Some users, who had no idea what the file actually does, experimented with it and disabled it from startup. They found that doing so did not affect their printer’s functions. On the other hand, some users also deem the file as necessary for enabling their Dell printer/scanner if this is connected to a network. Overall, the file was left installed by users because they did not find it behaving negatively on the computer. The general destination folder of the file is C:\Program Files.
