What is  dmadmin.exe

Dmadmin.exe is the process file for Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service, a Windows NT program application for the hard disk management such as system configuration, disk partitioning, device detection, and other system setup services. Dmadmin.exe is a built-in process on Windows 2000, Windows 2003, and Windows XP, performing administrative services upon disk management requests. The service launches when configuring the drive or partition and upon detection of a new drive. The service is preconfigured by default, which can be manually set and activated when a manual or dynamic disk configuration takes place and changes occur. These changes will activate conversion of the basic disk into dynamic, volume formatting, recovering of fault-tolerant volumes, and changes to page files. These services run on disk configuration processes when invoked by the MMC Disk Management system snap-in and abruptly stops. If these services are disabled, the attempts to utilize the disk configuration management will fail to connect to the Logical Disk Manager and will like display error messages.
