The dfrgntfs.exe process has its associations with the application Microsoft Windows Defragmentation. While running a defragmentation of the hard drive, this process should remain intact and not be terminated. This program has the description “Modulo NTFS desfragmentador de disco” and it is a process file owned by the Microsoft Corporation. This process can be started manually or it can start automatically due to a schedule (which mostly happens with the Windows Vista version). The Windows 2000 and XP usually handle the process of defragmentation. Defragmentation helps speed up operations such as the opening and reading of files which enables the applications to be executed as fast as they can within the user’s computer system. This file is necessary in the operation of the computer system. It should not be ended as it might cause file corruption, especially when the certain file is being processed. This program does not present any possible risks or threats within a user’s computer system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. dfrgntfs.exe. is used by Microsoft Windows Defragmentation, If you shut down dfrgntfs.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop dfrgntfs.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Microsoft Windows Defragmentation, from your system.
