The file db2sec.exe, known as IBM DB2, belongs to software DB2 Connect Personal Edition from International Business Machines (IBM). This solution enables a mainframe and iSeries to send data directly to desktops and enable the user to access directly data stored from multiple systems without using a gateway. This application employs the IBM Data Studio and InfoSphere Optim pureQuery Runtime environment that significantly improves the development, testing, and deployment of databases. The steps in the installation of the solution involves planning of program implementation and verification of correct hardware and software prerequisites for the workstations and IBM database server, to ensure that it is configured to accept connections from DB2 connect. The DB2 Connect software is installed in a workstation that is used to configure and verify the IBM mainframe connections, after which the connection between DB2 Connect and the IBM mainframe database system is established. After the connection has been established, binding the program and utilities provided with DB2 Connect to the IBM mainframe database should be done.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. db2sec.exe. is used by IBM DB2, If you shut down db2sec.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop db2sec.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is IBM DB2, from your system.
