International Business Machines (IBM) Corporation released the software DB2 Connect Enterprise Edition that has IBM DB2 or db2jds.exe as its core component. With DB2 Connect Enterprise Edition application it is possible to connect computers on a LAN-based network to a mainframe or a main computer. This capability is mostly utilized by businesses for effective software and application management. With the background process db2jds.exe, the said feature is possible as this executable file accesses ports for LAN or internet based connections and handles commands from the mainframe computer to the connected network. It sends data from the mainframe computer and manages the applications of the connected computer. Without this process, DB2 Connect is not possible. This file is not a Windows core file and is located inside the Program Files subfolder of the local drive directory and occupies 140 KB to 156 KB of disc space.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. db2jds.exe. is used by DB2 Connect Enterprise Edition, If you shut down db2jds.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop db2jds.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is DB2 Connect Enterprise Edition, from your system.
