The file da.exe, known as Desktop Assistant, belongs to software DesktopAssistant by http://sphinx-soft.com. This application is browser-based dictionary tool that quickly looks up words and phrases. It offers an instant alt-click access from almost any application to the free online reference resource for English words for medical and legal terms, and even looks up for search words from the thesaurus, encyclopedia, dictionary, indexes of acronyms and idioms, and a literature reference library. To find a word, enter it in a search field, or highlight an unknown word or phrase from a site or file and hit the defined hot key. One concern with this application is its capability to override the default browser. If a problem is encountered while downloading the program, stop using the download manager and download directly from the browser. Check also the firewall and proxy settings because some download mirrors may require that the HTTP referrers are not blocked.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. da.exe. is used by DesktopAssistant, If you shut down da.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop da.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is DesktopAssistant, from your system.
