What is ctfnom.exe
The ctfnom.exe process is an executable file that has been flagged by the system security tools of many users as a malicious application associated with a variant of the AutoIt/Renocide.gen!C program, which is a family of worms and Trojans known to infect unprotected Windows-based systems with outdated OS security certificates and an unsecured Windows System Registry. Other users reported that the ctfnom.exe process has been classified by their anti-malware programs as a malware item related to components of the Trojan.Win32.Midgare.uik application, which is another family of Trojans known to be embedded with spyware functionalities and reported to infect unprotected Windows-based systems with unencrypted TCP/IP network ports. In both cases, these users claim that the ctfnom.exe malware is capable of automatically activating during its initial placement in the system, in order to create and inject keys and entries into the unsecured Windows System Registry of the unprotected computer, and these registry strings are said to allow the ctfnom.exe malware to automatically initialize during system startup and operate as a hidden or cloacked background process during system runtime. Upon finding unencrypted TCP/IP network ports to exploit, these users claim that the ctfnom.exe malware is capable of initiating contact with predesignated remote servers to download more malicious applications unto the infected system from these remote locations, which are said to be managed by the authors of the ctfnom.exe malware. Some of these users reported that the ctfnom.exe malware is also capable of covertly gathering private user details and Internet surfing information from the infected system and its installed Web browsers, and these details are said to be transmitted by the ctfnom.exe malware to these remote servers, which are also said to feed the ctfnom.exe malware with instructions or directives this malicious program can perform in the infect Windows-based computer.
