Creative Audio Service is an application that is installed when the ctaudsvc.exe file is executed. The file is part of the driver that comes with Creative X-Fi audio cards. The driver seems to automatically install the file, as users discovered. Command file is C:\Program Files\Creative\Shared Files\ctaudsvc.exe. Based on reviews and users’ opinions, the file does not appear to have any effect on the functions of the audio card. Disabling the file also does not appear to have a negative impact on the audio card, because users still find it fully functional even with the ctaudsvc.exe disabled. Although the file is generally not a high CPU user, disabling it still leaves a bit more room for other processes. On the average, the process only uses up about 1.65 MB of the system’s RAM, and uses about 57 MB of committed memory that peaks up to 48.54 MB. It has an approximate size of 300 KB.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ctaudsvc.exe. is used by Creative Audio Service, If you shut down ctaudsvc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ctaudsvc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Creative Audio Service, from your system.
