Creative WDM Audio Device Driver is the service name of the Windows process and driver file called ctaud2k.sys, which is a component of the program Creative Audio Product, or Creative Audio Driver, that is developed by Creative Technology, Ltd. The ctaud2k.sys file is legitimate as it is digitally signed by Creative Labs, Inc. (VeriSign Time Stamping Services Signer), and is recommended to be kept on the computer system. Therefore, this driver file needs to continue running in the background, and provides its primary task. If the file is stopped, corrupted or deleted, it can certainly cause errors and problems, that may possible affect the launching of the software that houses it. Once the application that bundles the process ctaud2k.sys is installed onto the computer, this file is automatically downloaded as well, stored itself on a particular file folder location called C:\Program Files, or C:\Documents and Settings, and run on the system as a background Windows program.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ctaud2k.sys. is used by Creative Audio Product, If you shut down ctaud2k.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ctaud2k.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Creative Audio Product, from your system.
