The crude.exe process is an executable component file of the HijackThis software, which is a Windows program classified as a system diagnostics tool and log analysis application that was developed by Trend Micro with a set of features for scanning the Windows-based computer and generating a log report of system vulnerabilities that can be exploited by malicious BHOs (Browser Helper Objects), Web browser hijackers and other malware items distributed as Web browser plugins or add-on programs. The crude.exe process is specifically deployed into the system by the HijackThis software to assist in the integration of its system monitoring and log recording functionalities into the Windows-based computer, and to aid in the implementation of its BHO detection features into the Web browsers that are installed in the system. The crude.exe file is placed in the Windows-based computer upon the installation of the HijackThis software, which is distributed by Trend Micro as a freeware tool.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. crude.exe. is used by Trend Micro HijackThis, If you shut down crude.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop crude.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Trend Micro HijackThis, from your system.
