The cpv8.dll file has been identified by the system security tools of many users as a malicious program associated with the Trojan.Adclicker application, which is a family of Trojans known to infect unprotected Windows-based systems with missing OS security certificates, unencrypted TCP/IP network ports and an unsecured Windows System Registry. These users also claim that the cpv8.dll malware is distributed with EXE component processes that can automatically initialize during system startup, activate the cpv8.dll malware upon their initialization, and operate as hidden background processes during system runtime. Some users reported that the executable component processes of the cpv8.dll malware are capable of creating and injecting keys and entries into an unsecured Windows System Registry, and these registry strings are said to instruct the system to allow the cpv8.dll malware and these executable processes to automatically activate upon system startup and run as hidden background processes during system runtime. These users also claim that the cpv8.dll malware is capable of exploiting the unencrypted TCP/IP network ports of the unprotected Windows-based computer, especially when its OS security certificates are missing or outdated. These users state that the cpv8.dll malware uses these exploited vulnerabilities to download more malicious programs unto the infected system. Other user groups reported that their anti-malware applications flag the cpv8.dll file as a malicious program associated with variants of the Win32/Bestrevenue application, which is a family of obtrusive adware components, Web browser hijackers and malicious BHOs (Browser Helper Objects).
