The cpqdfw.sys file is a system process that is bundled with the firmware package integrated into certain Compaq devices. Also known as Compaq Diagnostics Driver, the cpqdfw.sys file stores program directives or application code that is associated with the diagnostic features implemented into the firmware of some Compaq devices. This means the content of the cpqdfw.sys process is referenced by the system and the associated Compaq firmware or driver software resource when the user requests access to corresponding functions for checking and monitoring the health status and real time details of built-in devices and chipsets of the supported Compaq device. When this happens, the cpqdfw.sys file in turn calls on other associated program files as well as application and system modules in order for the Compaq Diagnostics Driver applet to perform the operations requested by the user through the firmware and driver software resources of the supported Compaq hardware unit.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cpqdfw.sys. is used by Compaq Diagnostics Driver, If you shut down cpqdfw.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop cpqdfw.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Compaq Diagnostics Driver, from your system.
