The cpqalert.exe process is an executable component file of the Insight Management Agent software, which is a Windows program classified as a system and hardware device monitoring and management tool that was developed by Compaq. The Insight Management Agent program is incorporated as a pre-installed application into certain Compaq laptops and mobile computing devices that are normally distributed to corporate and business users. The Compaq Insight Management software allows network and system administrators to monitor and manage the fault and performance configuration settings of these Compaq laptops and mobile computing devices. The cpqalert.exe process is specifically deployed into the system by the Compaq Insight Management Agent software as the executable program dispatcher file of the Insight Local Alert Service application, which is also known as "Compaq Alerter", and this application is a small program built into the Compaq Insight Management Agent software. The Insight Local Alert Service application is responsible for displaying alerts and notifications related to the fault and performance configuration settings of these Compaq laptops and mobile computers, which means the cpqalert.exe file operates as a background process while the Compaq Insight Management Agent software is actively running in the Windows-based computer, in order to implement the real time system and device fault and configuration monitoring functionalities of the Compaq Insight Management software.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cpqalert.exe. is used by Compaq Insight Management Agent and Compaq Alerter or Compaq Insight Local Alert Service Application, If you shut down cpqalert.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop cpqalert.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Compaq Insight Management Agent and Compaq Alerter or Compaq Insight Local Alert Service Application, from your system.
