The coolgrams.exe process is an executable file that has been classified by the system security tools of many users as a malicious application associated with variants of the CoolGram program, which is a family of adware components, BHOs (Browser Helper Objects) and Web browser hijackers reported to infect unprotected Windows-based systems with missing OS security certificates, outdated Web browsers, unencrypted TCP/IP network ports and an unsecured Windows System Registry. These users also claim that the coolgrams.exe process is integrated by its authors with self-activating functionalities, which this malware implements upon Windows startup. The system is said to allow the coolgrams.exe process to automatically initialize during Windows startup because of certain registry keys and entries, which the coolgrams.exe process is said to be capable of creating and injecting into the unsecured Windows System Registry of the unprotected Windows-based computer, especially without the necessary OS security certificates. These registry keys and entries are said to be created and inserted into the Windows System Registry by the coolgrams.exe malware upon its initial placement and activation in the system. The coolgrams.exe process is also said to be capable of hijacking the homepage and search page settings of outdated Web browsers, in order to place URLs pointing to websites that are most likely managed by the authors of the coolgrams.exe malware, and these hijacked Web browsers are instructed to redirect the user to these websites while browsing the Internet. Other users claim that the coolgrams.exe malware is capable of hijacking unencrypted TCP/IP network ports and outdated Web browsers, in order to initiate contact with these remote servers and display pop-up advertisements that are transmitted by these remote servers while users are browsing the Internet.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. coolgrams.exe. is used by CoolGram Adware, If you shut down coolgrams.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop coolgrams.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is CoolGram Adware, from your system.
