What is  cits.exe

The cits.exe process is an executable file that belongs to computer hardware, software and technical network forensic applications included in the suite of tools developed by Guidance Software. Executable (EXE) files are processes that are responsible for certain actions performed by installed applications, modular components of firmware or driver software resources and built-in system processes among other Windows programs. These files may be essential for the overall performance of the system and its components, or potentially harmful if integrated with malicious functionalities, which can jeopardize the stability of the system and compromise the data security and privacy of the user. There are some EXE files that are camouflaged as genuine processes, but actually contain source code that can corrupt the system. The content stored in the cits.exe file is encrypted with data compression standards and encoded with program logic compilation specifications, in order for this file to be capable of connecting to the Internet and accessing predesignated Web resources via the TCP/IP network ports of the system. There are reports from some users that claim that it may be dangerous or a possible threat because it has the ability to monitor applications, but the threat level of the cits.exe file to the system remains unknown.
