The chkdev.exe process is an executable file deployed into the system by the applications bundled with the firmware utilities and driver software components of the Belkin Wireless G Plus device and other Belkin wireless products, which are networking devices that are manufactured for Windows-based systems. The chkdev.exe process is specifically implemented into the system as the executable program dispatcher file of the ChkDev MFC application, which is a small program built into the bundled applications of these Belkin wireless networking device firmware components and driver software resources. The chkdev.exe process and the ChkDev MFC application assist these Belkin Wireless G Plus drivers and firmware utilities in integrating its network detection, monitoring and connectivity functionalities into the Windows-based system. The chkdev.exe file is included as one of the EXE component processes that are packaged along with other resource files and libraries into the installer distributions of these Belkin Wireless G Plus firmware resources, bundled applications and driver software utilities, which also means the chkdev.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation of these Belkin Wireless G Plus components.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. chkdev.exe. is used by Belkin Wireless G Plus Firmware/Driver Software and ChkDev MFC Application, If you shut down chkdev.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop chkdev.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Belkin Wireless G Plus Firmware/Driver Software and ChkDev MFC Application, from your system.
